This site development along with construction of a new expandable administrative headquarters for this highly rated Federal Credit Union will be in a developing part of Colorado Springs called Briargate crossing.
TLG was selected as architect by AAFCU because of its success at developing campus such as Focus on the Family and its experience at working in concert with the developer, La Plata Investments on its adjacent Cordera development.
The new building will incorporate Green Architecture principles of design through the prudent selection of renewable resource materials energy conserving methods, shading devices, and day lighting. An Under Floor Air Distribution System was provided which reduces HVAC system operating costs and improved indoor air quality. The credit union is a key example of a sustainable, high performance building with under-floor service solutions that are cost effective, while improving indoor air quality, personal comfort, and lowering energy consumption. This creates a flexible and productive office environment including under-floor modular power and communications/data networking solutions.
Also planned for this site are two restaurant locations along with another office/retail building to be developed as this community grows. Vehicle parking and service areas are located so that the buildings provide screening from adjoining streets.
